Dr. Randolph Foy, Music Director/Conductor
Dr. Randolph Foy, Director of Orchestral Activities, NC State University, holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the University of Iowa (organ) and a doctorate (conducting) from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. His teachers have included David Boe and Fenner Douglass (organ) and Frederick Prausnitz (conducting), and John Spitzer (musicology; dissertation “Textural Transformations: The Instrumental Music of Krzysztof Penderecki, 1960-73”). He has conducted in the Baltimore/Washington area, and has taught at the University of Richmond, NC School of Science and Mathematics (founding faculty) and NC School of the Arts. In addition to his teaching and administrative duties as Associate Director of the Department of Music, NC State, Foy conducts and teaches at the Governor's School of NC in Winston-Salem, a summer program for gifted high school students. He has been called “an inspired and inspiring director” and “a totally committed musician whose mission is to spark in his audience the same level of enthusiasm that he clearly feels."

Lyda Cruden, Symphony Concertmaster
Lyda Cruden assumed duties as our new concertmaster of the Symphony in January, 2002. She attended the Eastman School of Music, Occidental College, and University of Missouri - Kansas City, and has played with the Cedar Rapids, Quad Cities, and Des Moines Symphonies (Iowa), and the Charleston Symphony (SC). She now teaches Suzuki students at Meredith College and plays with the North Carolina Symphony.

Lin-Ti Wang, Chamber Orchestra Concertmaster
Lin-Ti Wang holds degrees from Chinese Culture University, Taiwan, and has been a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, Taipei Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Young Musicians Orchestra, and has served as concertmaster of the Hwa-Kan Symphony Orchestra. She has been a member of the Formosa String Quartet and performed as soloist with the Hwa-Kan Symphony and Guang-Jen String Orchestra in Taiwan. Lin-Ti (Lindi) began as concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra in the fall of 2003.

David Oh, Principal Cello
Mr. Oh holds degrees from the Saint Louis Conservatory and East Carolina University. He has been a member of the Virginia Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, and the North Carolina Symphony. He is active as a free-lance musician in Raleigh, where he performs frequently with the North Carolina Symphony and with various chamber music ensembles.
