Art to Wear showcases student clothing design, draws more than 1,000

When an NC State University student created her own clothing line for a class project several years ago, her professor suggested that she put on a fashion show, too. So she and several other students pooled some money and resources, sent out invitations, showcased their clothing lines for friends and family, and the “Art to Wear” fashion show was born.

Big deal, you say? Well, how about this: Today, the annual show is Raleigh’s version of a New York runway exhibition and is attended by more than a thousand people. The show is organized, produced and presented by students; student designers show off clothing lines they’ve created specifically for the event.

That’s a serious fashion statement.
