Krispy Kreme Challenge is one of dozens of service opportunities projects at NC State

Krispy Kreme ChallengeOK…it’s doughnuts, it’s running a lot, and, yes, some hurling. It’s part road race, part eating contest. So what’s it got to do with college?

It’s the Krispy Kreme Challenge. Participants start at the NC State Belltower, run two miles to the downtown Raleigh Krispy Kreme, eat a dozen doughnuts and run back. In less than an hour.

Conceived by 10 NC State students, the student-run KKC has grown to more than 3,000 participants. Last year, the event raised more than $20,000 for the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. It’s one of any number of service-oriented projects that NC State students engage in formally and informally – inside the classroom and outside. At NC State, the hot light is always on.
