1.Humanities and social science elective to meet General Education Requirements must include:

1)One course in the study of literature (3 hours)
2)One course in the study of history, philosophy, or religion (3 hours)
3)One course in the study of visual and performing arts or a course in the study of history (3 hours)
4)Two courses from different content ares, in the study of psychology, economics, politics and government, sociology, anthropology and cultural geography (6 hours)
5)Two additional courses selected within Humanities and Social Sciences (6 hours)
6)Among the courses selected to fulfill the Humanities and Social Sciences requirement at least one must focus on a non-English speaking culture.

PSY 200 Introduction to Psychology, PS 201 Introduction to American Government, SOC 202 Principles of Sociology, and IDS 303 Humans and the Environment are recommended as humanities and social science electives in the last two categories for students planning further study in human nutrition. If IDS 303 is not selected, another course must come from the Science, Technology and Society, Humanities Perspective list.

2.Students who take introductory biology in the 160 option rather than the 2 semester BIO 181/183 must select an additional biological science elective course from: PB (ZO) 360 Introduction to Ecology, 3 credits and PB (ZO) 365 Ecology Lab, 1 cr; or ZO 260 Evolution, Behavior, and Ecology, 4 cr; or GN 411 Principles of Genetics, 4 cr; or FS 405 Food Microbiology, 3 cr.

3.Students are strongly encouraged to complete a minor in a closely related field, and should consult with an advisor in the minor department for the most current requirements. A list of available minors can be viewed online. Students in the Nutritional Science concentration will not be given credit for a Minor in Nutrition.
