1. Students eligible to take MA 121 or 131 by placement test will receive credit for MA 107 upon successful completion of MA 121 or MA 131 with a C- or higher grade. The credits from placement or credits from taking MA 107 or MA 111 as prerequisite to MA 121 may be used as free electives.

2. Students must have demonstrated foreign language proficiency at the FL 102 level

3. Students who take introductory biology as BIO/ZO 160 rather than the 2 semester BIO/183 must select an additional biological science elective course from: PB(ZO) 360 (Intro. Ecology), 3 credits and PB(ZO) 365 (Ecology Lab), 1 cr; (or) ZO 260 (Evolution, Behavior & Ecology), 4 cr; (or) ZO 414 (Cell Biology), 3 cr; ZO 421 (Principles of Physiology), 3 cr; ZO 412 (Human Anatomy), 4cr., (or FS 405 (Food Microbiology), 3 cr.

4. Humanities and social science electives to meet General Education Requirements must include: One course in the study of literature (3 hours); One course in the study of history, philosophy, or religion, (3 hours); One course in the study of visual and performing arts. Alternatively, this requirement may be fulfilled by a course in the study of history. (3 hours); Two courses from different content areas, in the study of psychology, economics, politics and government, sociology, anthropology and cultural geography (6 hours); Two additional courses selected within Humanities and Social Sciences (6 hours); One course must come from the Science, Technology and Society, Humanities Perspectives list. Among the courses selected to fulfill the Humanities and Social Sciences requirement at least one must focus on a non-English speaking culture.

5. Students are strongly encouraged to complete a minor in a closely related field, and should consult with an advisor in the minor department for the most current requirements. A list of available minors can be viewed at http://www.ncsu.edu/advising_central/minors.html. Students in the Nutritional Sciences major will not be given credit for a Minor in Nutrition. Free elective courses taken as credit only may not apply toward a minor.

6.
