Course Load Waiver

The Course Load Regulation was established in 1984 and can be reviewed at the University's Policies, Rules & Regulations website.

Undergraduate Students

The maximum course load for undergraduate degree students is 21 credit hours in a semester and two courses plus a physical education course in a summer session.

Undergraduate students who wish to enroll (register) for more than 18 hours during the Fall or Spring semester must have their advisor complete this Course Load Waiver Form and return it to Registration and Records. Students who wish to enroll (register) for more than 21 hours during the Fall or Spring semester must complete a Schedule Revision Form. Schedule Revision Forms are available from the student's departmental office.

During both Summer Sessions, undergraduate students must complete a Schedule Revision Form to exceed maximum hours allowed. Course Load Waiver Forms will not be accepted as a replacement for Schedule Revision Forms. Schedule Revision Forms are available from the student's departmental office.

Graduate Students

The maximum course load for graduate degree students is 15 credit hours in a semester and six credit hours in a summer session, for full-time students not holding assistantships.

Graduate students who wish to enroll (register) for more than the maximum hours allowed must complete a Schedule Revision form including the signature of the Dean of the Graduate School and return it to Registration and Records. Schedule Revision Forms are available from the student's departmental office.

Non-Degree Studies Students (UGS/PBS)

The maximum course load for both Undergraduate Studies Students (UGS) and Post-Baccalaureate Studies Students (PBS) is two courses plus a physical education course in a regular semester or summer session. Exceptions must be approved by Non-Degree Studies in 1000 Harris Hall.
