Communities Putting Prevention to Work

Purpose:  For evidence-based clinical and community-based prevention and wellness strategies that support specific, measurable health outcomes to reduce chronic disease rates; to provide an important opportunity for states, cities, rural areas, and tribes to advance public health across the lifespan and to reduce health disparities.

Budget:  All amounts are for up to two years.

Category A: Obesity/Physical Activity/Nutrition
•  Large city applicants: $10 million - $20 million
•  Urban area applicants: $4 million - $10 million
•  Tribal applicants: $500,000 - $1.2 million
•  State coordinated small city and rural area applicants: $3 million - $8 million

Category B: Tobacco Prevention and Control
•  Large city applicants: $10 million - $20 million
•  Urban area applicants: $4 million - $10 million
•  Tribal applicants: $500,000 - $1.2 million
•  State coordinated small city and rural area applicants: $3 million - $8 million

R&D on Human Biospecimen Integrity

Purpose:  To support one or more subcontracts advancing the field of biospecimen science; to support the development and broad dissemination of biospecimen integrity assessment tools, protocols, and QA/QC measures needed to yield reproducible, high-quality data from research and development efforts that utilize biospecimens.  Contractor:  SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of Science Applications International Corporation.

Budget:  Although technical factors are of paramount consideration in the award of this subcontract, cost and/or price is also important to the overall subcontract award decision.  Project must be completed within a 2 year period.

Due date:  Offers due by 2 p.m. EST on December 14, 2009
