Keeping your computer up-to-date is very important in keeping your computer secure from viruses and other malicious activity.  Automatic Update is a feature of Windows.  Automatic Updates allows Microsoft to talk to your computer and automatically download (and install if you wish) updates specifically for your computer.

Depending on your version of Windows, you will need to enable Automatic Updates in different ways.  Select your version of Windows for instructions.
