These
instructions assume that you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. The
configuration may be slightly different for other versions of Windows. You
may contact ResNet if you have any
questions.

Click the START button on your taskbar, and click Run

Open the Windows Security Center.

Open Automatic Updates.

Here you will see the automatic update options available to you: if you would like to have the updates both downloaded and installed for you at a specific time each day, select the first box and choose from the drop down menus next to it when to install the updates; if you would like the updates to be downloaded for you automatically and then inform you when they are ready to be installed, click the second box; if you would like only to be notified when new updates are available for download, select the third box.

Click OK, and your computer has been set to automatically update. If you chose to have the updates downloaded but not installed automatically for you, then when the updates are ready to be installed you will see the following:
When the above balloon appears, click it when you are ready to install the updates; you will then see this screen:

Click Install, and the window will turn into this progress bar as the updates install:
When the installation is complete, it may ask you to restart your computer; the updates will not take effect until you restart your computer, and it is best to restart as soon after the installation completes as possible to ensure system stability.
