The
American College Personnel Association (ACPA)is an association that values
people - an inclusive association which all
voices can be heard.
Inclusion takes many forms. It means that people of all racial and
ethnic backgrounds are listened to, empowered, and supported. It
means that the contributions of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender
students
and professionals are celebrated. It means that individuals with
disabilities are fully included in our discussions and initiatives. It
means that
the needs of all of our students, be they part-time or full-time,
on-campus or off-campus, adult or traditionally aged, international or
from the
Americas, women or men, are considered when we plan programs and
deliver services.
It is with this in mind that ACPA recognizes individuals and exemplary
campus based programs in the field of higher education and student
affairs that have in some way contributed to making their campus communities
a welcoming environment for all. (taken

NC State's Project SAFE educational training program was selected as the
first recipient of ACPA's Voice of Inclusion Award in 2002. This is one
of the highest awrds presented by this national organization.
