Paul Ulanch specializes in assisting businesses that have science, technology or engineering intellectual property as a fundamental element of their business model. He is the center’s lead technology development and commercialization practitioner. In his counseling, he:
- Counsels his clients on matters of intellectual property and technology development and commercialization;
- Counsels his clients on technology transfer including applications to special state and federal technology funding programs;
- Facilitates workshops and seminars on funding sources including angel investment funds, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants;
- Facilitates resource identification through his extensive network of technical and business resources.
Dr. Ulanch received his BS in Biology from Michigan Technological University in 1991, PhD in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in 1998, and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005. Prior to joining the SBTDC, he served as research faculty at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine where he was the departmental research operations administrator, project manager for the nation’s largest zebra fish research facility, and research investigator
