Evaluation Criteria

You will submit a floppy diskette (3.5") that will contain all project materials with your ArcView project document working entirely from this media. You will be graded on this project using the following evaluation criteria:

  • project with metadata
  • text file of your data collection procedure
  • data sheet
  • text file of the written document that contains a map of your conclusions
  • your hand drawn map should be attached to the diskette
Grading Criteria
Creativity- Your project shows inventiveness and is unique in its presenation.
Completeness- Hand drawn map is complete, neat, and readable on the disk, everything opens up and all files are present. The written document is detailed and follows the correct format, and all attribute tables are complete.
Correctness- The features in the themes are properly represented and identified, the metadata represents the files, the written documentation is well-written, clear, and accurate, your data collection technique is reliable and valid.
Elaboration- Your project illustrates good problem solving technique and analysis and thoroughly explores the relationship between the biotic and abiotic components of the study area.

 

Points
Evaluation
10 pts.
Hand drawn map of study area with points, lines and polygons clearly marked.  It is neat and readable and attached to the floppy disk.
10 pts.
Data collection procedure is detailed and in list format.  Data collection sheet matches the procedure and is complete, elaborate, and detailed. (on floppy as yourunityid"_datacollection.txt)
30 pts.
The project file (.apr) opens and all associated data is present.  Each theme contains an adequate description of the metadata.
30 pts.
The written document contains a problem, hypothesis, detailed procedure, at least one layout document with all of the standard cartographic elements displayed (no gray boxes), and a conclusion.  The conclusion is clear, detailed, and elaborate and answers all of the questions (see problem-solving).  Call this file "yourunityid"_problem.txt
20 pts.
The project is creative and shows inventiveness.  It answers the problem question by using analyses that correspond to queries or calculations and explores the relationship between the biotic and abiotic components of the study area.
