- CBL Interface-
Made by Texas Instruments, this unit provides a necessary link between the TI-83 calculator and the various
probes.
- TI-83 Calculator-
Made by Texas Instruments, this calculator stores programs to collect data from probes and store that data.
It also allows the user to make graphs, do mathematical analysis, and transfer data to a computer for further analysis.
- CBL Probes-
Made by Texas Instruments and Vernier Software, a variety of physical properties such as temperature,
motion, light, voltage, force, sound, pressure, current, magnetic field and acceleration can be measured by the probes. Other
probes for chemistry and biology are available from Vernier.
- Adapter/ Connector Cords-
One connector cord is included in the CBL interface kit which is needed to connect the CBL
interface with the calculator. Other cords may be needed to adapt probes to the CBL system (refer to Appendix D) and/or to
connect the calculator with a computer.
- Calculator Programs-
Programs are necessary to control data collection. The PHYSICS program can be downloaded from the World Wide Web from Vernier Software. (http://www.vernier.com/ cbl/progs.html or start with the Vernier Software home page). A program entitled GraphLink is needed for the computer to transfer these programs to the calculator and it can be
downloaded free at the TI website: (http://www.ti.com/calc/ docs/calchome.htm) The cord needed to connect the calculator to
the computer can be ordered from Texas Instruments ( http://www.ti.com/calc/docs/link.htm).
