and how it is setup, take a look at the links below to proceed step-by-step
through the listed processes for using Vernier's Graphical Analysis

| Vernier's
Graphical Analysis software will allow you to easily add , graph,
and analyze data. Data can be manually entered in to the data table
or imported from a Texas Instruments graphing calculator using TI-GRAPH
LINK. |
|
1. Open the Graphical
Analysis program.
2. The following window
will open up.
|
|
|
|
|
| 1.
To begin adding data to the data table, place your cursor in the box
next to Row 1, under the x. Begin typing to enter data. |
| 2. Add the data shown to the right
to the data table. |
|
|
| 3. Click on the area above the
first column of data. Type in a heading for the x axis:Temperature
(Degrees F). |
|
|
|
4. Click on the area above the second column of data. Type
in Chirp Rate (Chirp/15 sec).
5. The changes and the data will appear in the graph window
as well as in the data table window. (See image below)

|
6. Save your graph so it can be used in the following skill development
activities:
|
| 7. Click on File, choose Save as.. and pick the
location where you would like to save your graph. |
|
|
| 8. A dialog box will appear which will enable
you to make your selection. Change the Filename from untitled
to tempchirps and click OK. |

your graph. |
| Data can be imported and exported to other
applications using the Graphical Analysis program. First, let's look
at importing data. |

Importing
Data from a TI Graphing Calculator
|
|
|
Note: On Macintosh computers, AppleTalk needs to be
inactive before importing data from a TI calculator.
1. Click on the Apple in the upper left corner of your computer,
then click on Chooser.

| 2. In the lower right corner of the Chooser window,
click the radio button next to Inactive and close the window
by clicking on the box in the upper left corner of the window.

A TI-GRAPH
LINK is needed to connect the calculator to the computer.
Data can be imported from the following graphing calculators:
TI-73, TI-82, TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-85, TI-86, TI-89, TI-92,
and TI-92 Plus.
1. Connect the TI-GRAPH
LINK to the computer and the calculator. Click on File
then choose Import from TI Calculator......

| 2. A dialog box appears which will allow you to
Select Port..... Then select the lists of data on the calculator
that you want to send to Graphical Analysis. |

| 1. To copy a data table to be used in a word processing
application, select Copy Data Set from the Edit menu. The data
is now copied to the Clipboard. |
|
|
| 2. Place your cursor in the word processing document where you want
to put the data. Select paste from the Edit menu or hold down the
Apple key and press V. |
|
|
| To copy data to a spreadsheet application such as Excel, follow
the steps outlined below: |
| 1. Select Copy Data from the Edit menu in the
Graphical Analysis application. The data is now copied to the
Clipboard. |

| 2. Place the cursor in cell A1 of the Excel spreadsheet.
|
|
|
| 3. Select Paste from the Edit menu. |
|
|
| 4. The data is now pasted into the Excel application
where it can be further analyzed. |
