Discover a World of Solutions with GIS

GIS LIVE will be a dynamic, interactive experience that everyone in the world can share. Through the immense power of the Web, we can join together to discover ways we can use GIS to improve our everyday lives.

Exemplary Projects
Exemplary projects will be presented via the Web on Wednesday, November 20th from 9:00AM. to 6:00 PM. EST. Strands include health, flood plain mapping, critical incident response, North Carolina State University science research-remote sensing and wildlife habitat modeling, crime analyisis, urban planning, meteorology and snow command, Urban Ecological Analyses, and GIS in Marine Science. Participants can call or submit questions using the online question form.

GIS LIVE Team Challenge
Students from various North Carolina schools will demonstrate how to collect and analyze data in a GIS activity with live reports on their progress throughout the day.  Join us for this NC GIS LIVE Team Challenge!  Work along with the Middle/High School Team and join other schools that are emailing us their results for analysis and display.

GIS Electronic Forum
The day will close with an electronic forum for educators from 4 to 6 p.m. led by teachers and students from Leesville Middle School and Ligon GT Middle School, Wake County Public Schools; Carrington Middle School, Durham Public Schools; and Southwest Guilford High School, Guilford County Public Schools.  Educators from across North Carolina can participate at selected NC Information Highway sites for two-way videoconferencing. The eForum will also be Webcast offering greater access to other educators in the state and around the world.
