Sessions Previews

NC Invasive Species
MT Palmer, NC Museum of Natural Sciences

Description:

An "invasive species" is defined as a species that is:

1: non-native (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration and
2: whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.

Invasive species can be plants, animals, and other organisms (e.g., microbes). Human actions are the primary means of invasive species introductions. Learn how invasive species are a national threat to open spaces and wild places.

Preparing for the Session: Activities for Parents and Educators to engage in:

(K) What do you KNOW about this already?

What can you do to help?

(W) What have you LEARNED?

Why are invasive species a problem in NC?

(L) What else would you LIKE TO KNOW?

How can you fight against this problem?
What are some of the solutions?
