What in
the World is GIS?
Rita Hagevik, NC A&T State University
Description:
GISLiveNC is the state of North Carolina's celebration of GIS Day.
We join other similar events happening throughout the state. This teleconference
"links" these events from Charlotte in the West to Greensboro
and Raleigh in the Piedmont to Holmes High School in the East and then
to other states and the world.
GIS Day is a grassroots event that features the use of Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) in our everday lives. Internationally, the event is sponsored
by the National Geographic Society, the Association of American Geographers,
University Consortium for Geographic Information Science, the United
States Geological Survey, The Library of Congress, Sun Microsystems,
Hewlett–Packard, and ESRI.
