Management
is a practice...Peter
Drucker
...a
practice, like medicine; and the model should have been the medical
school... |
The SCRC perspective on supply chain management education
is unique among business schools. It brings the industry into the
classroom, involving faculty and students in finding solutions to
the real industry problems of our member companies. This project-based
approach to education reflects the new model for business schools
described by Peter Drucker. |
Value
to Students
Through the SCRC, students have the opportunity to work with corporate
professionals on real SCM projects. With the assistance of faculty
members, they apply research to real world challenges while at the
same time networking to earn internships and permanent employment.
These students leave NCSU thoroughly prepared to positively impact
the SCM Community at large. |
Value
to Faculty
By facilitating projects and conducting research, faculty members
sharpen their business skills while contributing cutting edge perspectives
to the field of Supply Chain Management. Their work with the SCRC
enhances the skills of students, the knowledge of corporate professionals,
and the value of the NCSU program. |
Value to
Member Companies
Member companies benefit from interaction with students and faculty.
Real-world coursework and problem-solving bring process improvement
solutions into corporate settings. Their work with students also
creates more valuable future employees. Networking opportunities
occur in other venues like member meetings and round tables as well.
|
Value to SCM Community
The SCRC ensures smarter students, more well rounded faculty, and
enlightened corporate professionals. Better employees make healthier
companies who, in turn, create more challenging and intellectual
projects for future students and faculty to tackle. By combining
the efforts of each party with the resources of a solid organization,
the SCRC is able to successfully impact and advance the field of
Supply Chain Management. |
