The history of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative evolved from a collaborative effort among Operations and Supply Chain professors and companies and has matured into a fully staffed organization supporting hundreds of members, students, and public users on a daily basis.

1999

In the fall of 1999, Dr. Rob Handfield set out to create an educational partnership between supply chain management professionals, and students and faculty at NC State.
John Deere joined as the 1st member company to recognize the value in an industry university partnership. Winter ’99
 
2000
SCRC became project-based, bringing together students and companies for recruiting and problem solving. First projects presented at 1st Semi-Annual Meeting of members and guests. Spring ’00
Steve Edwards joined as Managing Director. Progress Energy, Bechtel, GKN join as new members. 2nd Semi-Annual Meeting. Nov ’00

2001
 
Membership increased to 9 companies, early version of website developed. Initiative launched to integrate projects into other SCM courses.
Sandy Newville, Information Product Manager, and Susan Clark, Program Manager, joined the SCRC staff. New website development began. Fall ‘01
 
2002
Courses, projects, and companies uniquely integrated to form a valuable connection between students, faculty, and SCM professionals.
New SCRC website launched. Jul '02

2003
 
Curriculum changes are being formulated to support the SCRC vision
Public site is launched for the benefit of the SCM community. Sep '03
