Message from the Chancellor

One of the facts I have learned in my first few months at NC State is that throughout NC State's history, our faculty and staff have been purposeful and generous when it comes to giving time, talents and dollars for a good cause. While the recession has created challenges for state employees, our communities are seeing an exponential increase in the demand for services from agencies funded through the State Employees Combined Campaign.

This year, our theme for the combined campaign reflects NC State's history of generosity, Wolfpack Gives Back. Based on what I have learned about you, I have no doubt that NC State will again have a strong response to the call for help.

Our goal this year is to exceed a participation level of 50 percent. Ira Weiss, Dean of Management, will be honorary chair, and a network of coordinators, captains and volunteers will be calling on you between now and Nov. 5, when the campaign ends.

Through this campaign, we can assist more than 1,000 qualified organizations and set an important example for our university peers as leaders in service to our community, state and beyond. Completed pledge forms should be submitted to Team Captains.

I encourage you to accept this invitation to give back to our communities and state. Let's remind ourselves and our fellow North Carolinians that giving back is one of NC State greatest traditions.
