Phares
Coleman Sechler, a graduate student at North Carolina State University,
is presently a full-time professor of elementary education at Pfeiffer
University, Misenheimer, North Carolina. Phares is currently an official
candidate for a Ph.D. in science education with a minor in integrated
sciences which include a concentration in biology, marine science and
earth science. The topic of Phares' dissertation addresses what personality
trait influences a teacher's choice of what aspect of an in-service workshop
will be implemented in the classroom. Phares' teaching career spans 35
years and includes eighth grade math and science, K-12 as well as freshman
biology labs at NC State. By the time Phares graduates in May 1999, she
will have taught Classroom and Behavioral Management, Elementary Mathematics
Methods, Educational Psychology, Foundations of Education and Elementary
Science Methods. In addition to her teaching duties, she also supervises
elementary student teachers at Pfeiffer University.
