Greek Organizations

In general, use the full name of the fraternity or sorority on first reference and specify the type. Fraternities and sororities at N.C. State range from honor and service organizations to general social organizations. Only some of these organizations are officially recognized at NCSU as members of Greek Life, so be sure to specify the type when using in a story. Use a shortened form of the fraternity or sorority name on second reference only if it is commonly used and well known.

Alpha Zeta — co-ed agriculture fraternity

Beta Alpha Psi — honorary and professional organization for financial information students and professionals

Beta Gamma Sigma — business and management honor society. A member of the Association of College Honor Societies

Beta Upsilon Chi — Christian fraternity

Ceres — primarily an agricultural fraternity for women. Note that the organization is a fraternity, not a sorority

Chi Alpha — a national Christian fellowship organization

Chi Psi — general college fraternity; the Lodge is acceptable on second reference

Chi Epsilon — civil engineering honor society; a member of the Association of College Honor Societies

Chi Epsilon Pi — national meteorology honor society

Chi Omega — general college sorority

Chi Sigma Iota — professional counseling honor society; a member of the Association of College Honor Societies

Delta Delta Delta — general college sorority

Delta Gamma — general college sorority

Delta Kappa Phi — honor and professional textile fraternity

Delta Lambda Phi — gay, bisexual and progressive fraternity for men

Delta Sigma Iota — South Asian interest fraternity

Delta Sigma Phi — general college fraternity

Delta Sigma Theta — sorority for black women

Epsilon Chi Nu — fraternity for American Indian men
