Software@NC State

The purpose of this site is to provide a central location of up-to-date information for the entire campus community about software licensing and acquisition.

By making this information available, faculty, staff and students can take advantage of the many licensing agreements, reducing the overall cost of software licensing for the university.

3.30.2012 SAS 9.3 for Windows (32 & 64-bit versions), SAS 9.3 for Linux (32 & 64-bit versions), JMP 10 Pro for Windows, and JMP 10 Pro for Macintosh are available for download to faculty, staff and students. If you have a problem downloading or installing the program, please call (515-4357) or email the Help Desk. Installation instructions are available on the download pages.

The Home Use Program for Microsoft Office is once again available to faculty and staff.

1.13.2012 2012 Licenses for SAS 9.2, JMP 9.0, and JMP Genomics are now available. We regret to inform you that we will no longer be able to support SAS 8.2, SAS 9.1.3 and JMP 8.0.2 as SAS did not provide any of the licenses for these products. The current license for these products will remain active till March 2012. If you are using any of these, you should upgrade to SAS 9.2 or JMP 9.0.
8.31.2011 Matlab 2009 and 2010 users will need to make sure they have the latest license file as the old file points to a server that does not exist anymore. You will want to go into the licenses subfolder of Matlab and edit the network.lic file (through notepad). The path is typically C:\Program Files\Maltab\Matlab 2011a(or whatever version you are running)\licenses.

Maple 15 and Matlab 2011a are now available for download to faculty and staff only. If you have a problem downloading or installing the program, please call (515-4357) or email the Help Desk. If there is a problem with the license, please contact Software Licensing with either a screenshot of the error or specific information that will allow us to troubleshoot.  Installation/activation instructions are available on the download page.

7.25.2011 ESRI ArcInfo License Manager Renewed.  If you use ESRI ArcInfo version 10, you have to do nothing - the license update is automatic.  If you use ArcInfo 9.x, please see the following information regarding redirecting your license manager.
6.09.2011 Mathematica Site License Renewed.  If you have a Mathematica license, you will receive an email from Wolfram Research detailing how you can renew your license.  The new license will be valid through June 30, 2012.

2.5.2010 NC State is now officially part of the Apple iPhone Developer Program. With this program, we can develop, test and distribute applications for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch from within NC State’s App Store. A committee to manage NC State’s mobile presence is currently being formed. In the meantime, OIT’s Outreach Technology will be managing the review of applications and the management of the NC State iPhone Developer Program.
 

Microsoft Office Home Use Program

Faculty and Staff can now purchase Office for their home computer through the Microsoft's Home Use Program (HUP ). Office is now available for download for around $10 (media disks are also available for an additional $12). Windows 7 is not offered through the Home Use Program.
