Apple Maintenance Program (AMP)
NC State participated in the Apple Maintenance Program (AMP) to provide upgrade maintenance for 1,400 university owned Macintosh computers. The AMP was renewed in September, 2007 and will provide participates in the program updates to the Macintosh OS until September 2010. With the release of Leopard (version 10.5), participates are entitled to a free upgrade to the new operating system. As well, they will be eligible for Snow Leopard when it is released.
How It Works:
- If you purchase a new Macintosh, you can elect to purchase maintenance for your new license for $59 per license. This maintenance will provide updates until September 2010.
- If you purchased maintenance in the past, you can renew your maintenance for an additional three years by paying $59 per license.
- Upon new releases of the operating system, you will be required to purchase installation media for $15 per set. One set of installation media can be used to install your upgrade regardless of the number of licenses you own. An installation media set is NOT required for each license. Please note that you are not permitted to make copies of the Macintosh OS media.
Currently, there are only a small number of the original 1,400 units of AMP maintenance left. Once they are sold, they will no longer be available from OIT. At that time, AMP maintenance can be purchased directly from Apple through NC State's Marketplace for $79 per maintenance unit.
Order Apple Mac OS maintenance by completing the Apple Maintenance Program (AMP) request form.
