Red Hat Licensing Agreement

Under an agreement between Red Hat and UNC General Administration, NC State has a site license subscription for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The subscription includes the following:

1. A subscription for RHN (Red Hat Network) Update Entitlements for each installed system.
2. Access to all currently supported versions of the software
3. The following Support Services for each Installed System:

• Installation support
• Advanced configuration support
• Systems administration support

Gaining Access to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

At NC State University you will need an RHN account to deploy and maintain RHEL machines. RHN accounts are currently restricted to full time IT staff and those sponsored by a full time IT staffer. To initiate a request for an RHN account please send an email to uncrhel@help.ncsu.edu with the following information:

• Preferred User ID (For NCSU accounts this is required to be your unity id)
• First and Last Name
• Email Address
• University
• Department or Organization

You will receive an automated confirmation with a support ticket number shortly thereafter. Once you receive an account, the link to NCSU's RHN Satellite is:  Red Hat Network Access.  Your user name and password are the same as your Unity name and password.
