Microsoft Software Assurance Renewal

During the last three years, many have purchased Microsoft products from SHI under the Microsoft Academic Select Agreement.  If you purchased Microsoft products from SHI with Software Assurance (which entitles you to upgrades), please note that the Software Assurance expires on July 31st.  You will have 30 days from this date to determine whether you want to renew your Software Assurance.   If you elect not to renew  your Software Assurance, you will maintain a perpetual license of the current version of the software you own.  It will not be upgradable.

Q: What is Software Assurance?
A: When you acquire licenses through the Academic Select program, you can enroll those licenses in Software Assurance. Software assurance helps you get the most from your software by providing the right to run any new release of a covered product during the term of the agreement (free upgrades). You also have access to eLearning content for your covered products.

Q: Does software acquired through the Academic Select Agreement include Software Assurance?
A: Not automatically. In order to include Software Assurance, you will have to purchase it at the time you purchase the software. At the end of the term, you may choose to continue Software Assurance by paying a set fee. If you decline to pay the renewal, the software version at the time of the term's end is the version you own.

Q: How long from the renewal anniversary date do I have to decide whether I want to renew Software Assurance?
A: As determined by the contract, the renewal date for the Academic Select Agreement is July 31. You will have 30 days to determine whether you want to renew your Software Assurance. The deadline to renew Software Assurance is August 31 of each year.

Please see the Software Assurance price list for software assurance renewal prices.
