Vista Volume Activation Information
Windows Vista will require “activation,” even for customers with a Volume License. This is a very significant change from Windows XP which used “system-locked pre-installation” and media that had the VLK embedded in the software. You will see this new strategy called Volume Activation 2.0. Microsoft's strategy with the new approach has two purposes: first, to combat piracy and second, to improve the customer experience.
