Software Licensing – Campus Experiences and Information Sharing
Are you involved with software licensing on your campus? Would you like to know about all the discounts and special agreements? Do you often wonder how other campuses are addressing software issues? If your answer is “yes” to any of these questions, join us for a time of meeting each other and sharing knowledge and experiences.
Common issues we all face will be discussed. Topics will include the following:
- UNC-GA agreements - Great deals, such as Adobe/Macromedia, ESRI, Mathematica, Red Hat, and Symantec
- Options for student-owned machines - no-cost or low-cost software for limited budgets
- Managing software distribution on your campus - electronic or media copies
- How do you track licenses on your campus?
- Does your campus have a software web presence?
- Are you interested in a system-wide software licensing listserv?
- Next steps – additional software for system-wide licensing, top priority issues, issues we expect to face over the next few years
