Matt Ronning is a native of Seattle, Washington. He earned is Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Information Systems from Central Washington University and his Master of Business Administration with concentration in Information Systems Management from Washington State University. From there he went on to work as a staff accountant and then information systems auditor for an international CPA firm. After spending nearly 100% of his time travelling for the firm, he left the firm and joined the Washington State Auditor's office and was stationed in Pullman Washington. There he served as an auditor-in-charge on numerous municipal corporation engagements and as lead auditor on the contracts and grants audits and internal control reviews for Washington State University. Eventually, he joined the Sponsored Projects Finance Office at Washington State University as the Grant and Contract Coordinator responsible for proposal budget review and negotiation, and post award account audit. He was promoted to Assistant Director of the Washington State University pre-award office. Matt moved to Mississippi State University with his wife, a faculty member in food microbiology, in early 1995. He became the Director of Sponsored Programs and Regulatory Compliance Administration at Mississippi State University in 1996. In late 2000 Matt moved to North Carolina State University where he assumed the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of Research Administration. Matt has given numerous talks on research administration, supervision and value-added management. He has served as moderator and lecturer for several NCURA, NCUBO and SRA programs.
