Staff Senate Accomplishments 1999 - 2000

NC State Staff Senate -> Accomplishments

• Represented on the Chancellor’s Liaison Committee
• Participated in Interviewing for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources
• Participated in Interviewing for the Director of Benefits
• Participated in Interviewing for Director of Diversity Programs
• Introduced the use of Alternates in the Staff Senate
• Helped secure email access for approximately all Staff Senate members
• Helping to Implement Significant Changes in the Committee on Committees and the way University Standing Committees are structured
• Membership on the NCSU’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force and Instrumental in the development of the proposal submitted to the University Council for adoption. Also in the process of passing a Resolution in support of the proposal
• Heavily involved in the Hillsborough Street Partnership and passed a Resolution in support of this effort
• Passed a Resolution supporting protection of the Watershed Areas on Centennial Campus
• Acquired an Administrative Secretary (1/2 support position)
• Opened a Staff Senate Office (Room 4216 D H Hill Library) and furnished the Staff Senate Office with tables, chairs, desks and cabinets and other office supplies.
• Equipped Staff Senate Office with a computer, printer, internet access, fax machine, voice mail, and a digital camera
• Sponsored our Second Annual Employee Open Forum to allow staff the opportunity to voice their concerns
• Sponsored a booth at Employee Appreciation Day to inform constituents about some of the things happening in the Staff Senate
• Helped choose the winners of this year’s University Award of Excellence
• Published several copies of the Voice to keep our constituents and the campus community informed
• Made several reports to the Board of Trustees concerning staff issues and updating them on things in which the Staff Senate were involved.
• Provided input in the University’s Physical Master Plan
• Had Staff Senate representation at all Student Senate Meetings
• Addressed the Faculty Senate our support of their efforts and to discuss joint efforts between the two Senates
• Advised other Senates/Forums at sister universities on how to put together a news letter and how to set up a Retreat and other issues
• Supported SEANC in gaining one of the largest state employees’ pay raises in more than a decade
