Do I need to have an appointment?
The two ways to access Counseling Center services:
-
Scheduled Appointment
-
Urgent Care Walk-in Services
Most persons seeking to meet with a counselor for personal, academic,
or career issues will be scheduled in an available appointment.
However, we do have clinicians available to see students on
an emergency basis.
If your present situation is an emergency or if you feel you
need to be seen urgently, we will be able to work you into our
Urgent
Care Walk-in Service.
How do I set up an appointment?
Setting up your first appointment is quite simple. Come by the Counseling
Center during our normal hours and request an appointment. We can
typically schedule appointments within the same week. Students are
able to request specific counselors or a certain type of counselor
(e.g. gender, race, sexual orientation, etc). We will do our best
to accomodate requests, but do keep in mind that a specific counselor
may not necessarily be the first available counselor so you may have
to wait slightly longer for your first appointment.
At the time you set up your appointment, we will have you complete
some initial paperwork so that when you return for your appointment
you will have only one last form to complete. You can save some time
at the Counseling Center by dowloading these forms and have them
already completed when
you arrive at the Center to schedule your 1st appointment
Although, we prefer students to come to the Counseling Center to
initiate services, for students who are currently out of the
area or are unable to come by the Counseling Center, you can
call 919-515-2423.
PLEASE NOTE: If you schedule an appointment at the Counseling Center but cannot keep it, you must cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $15 charge ($25 for ARPs). Thank you for your cooperation.
