Counseling
Center Staff is available to assist Faculty / Staff in a variety
of ways that serve students. Having difficulty with a problematic
student? Concerned about a student who appears distressed? Wondering
how to support a student who shares with you that she or he has a
personal issue? Wanting someone to talk with your class about the
Center or a counseling related topic? Are Counseling Services available
to Faculty? All of these are common questions the professional staff
at the Counseling Center
receive
from faculty and staff regarding students. We address these questions
through the following services:
Consultation Services:
The Counseling Center provides consultation services
to the entire University Community. We are glad to answer any questions
that
you
may have
about our services, your concerns about a student and referral
options. Your call will be routed to the counselor-on-cover,
and,
if that counselor is not immediately available, the secretary
will take your number and the counselor will return your call
within
the day. Feel free to call and talk about your concerns regarding
a student and, if indicated, ways to make an effective referral
to the Counseling Center.
Outreach Services:
The Counseling Center staff is composed of a diverse
group of individuals. Our staff's diversity is reflected in ethnicity,
gender, sexual orientation, theoretical orientation, and areas
of expertise. All staff are essentially generalists - meaning that
we are skilled in a wide range of issues typically seen at a university
counseling center. We offer counseling in the areas or personal,
academic, and career issues. Our staff also bring individual skills
and interests that address the needs and issues of our diverse
community of students at North Carolina State University. Due to
the diverse range of interests, Counseling Center Staff are available
to do programming and classroom presentations on a range of issues.
Feel free to contact the Counseling Center to request a program or
lecture. 515-2423
Counseling Services for Faculty:
The Counseling Center is not able to offer counseling services to
faculty or staff. We do maintain a comprehensive database of therapists
in the Triangle. We can help you identify a therapist who is skilled
in a certain area or accepts a certain insurance. Feel free to contact
us (515-2423) and ask to speak to the counselor-on-cover.
