In an attempt to provide advice to faculty faced with the sometimes difficult task of confronting a suspected violation of the academic integrity policies, three case studies have been developed. These scenarios are based on the most common situations seen in the Office of Student Conduct. The most common reactions of both students and faculty are also described.
Because every situation is different, please feel free to contact the Office of Student Conduct staff for consultation on any situation that may arise in your classroom.
Case One: A situation involving two students working together on a final project that required individual work: resolution by the faculty member.
Case Two: A situation involving Internet plagiarism: resolution by the faculty member
Case Three: Cheating on a test: resolution by the Academic Integrity Review Board.
