Division Mission:  The Division of Student Affairs provides programs and services for students and the larger community to enhance quality of life, facilitate intellectual, ethical and personal growth, and create a culture which engenders respect for human diversity. It is through these activities that we promote student learning with our principle of “Students First.”

Division Core Values:  The following values are the foundation of our work with students.

Division Objectives and Student Learning Outcomes:  Through programs, services, academic courses, co-curricular programming, and individual interaction, Student Affairs will:

  1. contribute to the intellectual development, academic success, and persistence to degree of our students.

A. Students will demonstrate knowledge of content from courses taught in Student Affairs.

B. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the programs and services that facilitate academic success and engagement in the campus community.

C. Students will utilize programs and services designed to facilitate academic success.

D. Students will be actively engaged in the campus community.

E. Students will be committed to graduation from NC State.

  1. challenge and support students in the cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions of student learning and development.

B. Students will engage in a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity 3 times a week.

C. Students will demonstrate knowledge of proper nutrition.

D. Students will demonstrate healthy eating habits.

E. Students will demonstrate knowledge of health risks associated with various factors such as disease, genetics, sexuality, alcohol, drugs and other addictions.

F. Students will make healthy choices to minimize health risks associated with various factors such as disease, genetics, sexuality, alcohol, drugs and other addictions.

  1. foster communities rich in the arts. 

A. Students and other constituents will have access to a variety of arts events.

B. Students and other constituents will demonstrate an appreciation of the arts.

C. Students and other constituents will have the opportunity to develop their artistic abilities.
