Athletics
Athletics feels that is important that our students are educated about the sexual assault and domestic violence and wants them to be continually educated on the issues. |
The First Year College
The First Year College (FYC) is proud to be represented within the Alliance for Sexual Assault Prevention (ASAP) at North Carolina State University. While the main efforts of the First Year College involve assisting students in finding a major best suited for the individual, we are additionally committed to helping our students engage in the many academic, social, and cultural opportunities available at NCSU. We offer our support in all educational efforts toward the prevention of sexual assault, and offer our guidance to assist students impacted by these events, either directly or indirectly. We believe that the responsibility to reduce and one day eliminate sexual assault on our campus belongs to us all, staff, administration, and students alike. |
Student Health Service and Health Promotion
The Student Health Service and Health Promotion support the activities of ASAP and feel it is an important campus committee. The Health Service provides medical assistance for survivors of sexual assault through its general Medical Clinic as well as Women’s Health. Health Promotion provides outreach educational programs on alcohol-and-consent-related issues. Health Promotion teaches PE335 Sexual Assault/Relationship Violence in the Health Minor. Students in this class present outreach programs on campus as part of their class activities. Topics are Sexual Assault, Relationship Violence, Women and Alcohol, Women and the Media, and Stalking. |
Office for Equal Opportunity
In keeping with the educational mission of the university, the Office for Equal Opportunity(OEO) at NC State works to ensure that the university is a non-discriminatory and harassment-free environment where people can work and learn. To that end, OEO's mission is four-fold: education, intervention, compliance, and service (outreach). OEO monitors the university's compliance with applicable federal and state laws, UNC system policies, and NC State University policies in regard to equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and affirmative action. OEO works proactively to move NC State toward embracing the spirit of equal opportunity, affirmative action, and achieving a diverse university community through education of policy and issues, outreach, and service.

NCSU Police Department
The NCSU Police Department is available 24 hours a day to respond to calls of all types, including sexual assault or rape. The department is physically located at 2610 Wolf Village Way, next to the West Lot parking area. University Police can assist sexual assault survivors by taking a report and completing a full investigation into the reported crime. University Police also has full-time investigators who are specially trained to work with rape and sexual assault victims and survivors. Additionally, University Police offer safety classes such as R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense for females) and other educational programs. |
Student Legal Services
The University Student Legal Services Office provides legal services, resources, and support for survivors of sexual assault. We are able to do this because our office has been involved with the issues of sexual assault for over 20 years both on and off campus. The office provides information and support concerning the legal system and the option of pursuing a sexual assault claim through the criminal and civil court process. This information allows the survivor to be educated concerning all of the legal options related to a sexual assault enabling them to choose the best course of action. Specifically, this office will go over the possible charges, the process involved in investigating and charging the perpetrator, trial preparation, victim impact statements, victim rights, the trial itself, the sentencing scheme and finally, the notifications the victim can choose to receive if the perpetrator is jailed. We realistically educate and inform the survivor as to what they should expect from the legal process. All communications with this office are confidential. |
NC State Women’s Center
The Women’s Center celebrates women 365 days a year through support, empowerment, education, and leadership development. Founded in 1991, the Women's Center provides information and support for students at NC State University. The office serves as a referral center for campus and community resources for and about women and gender equity issues and offers an array of programs and services throughout the school year. Programs reflect a wide range of viewpoints and are designed to increase understanding of gender issues, empower women to explore options in their lives, and motivate both women and men toward greater involvement in these issues. Emphasis is placed on empowering women as leaders and agents of change on campus with particular concern for issues of sexual violence, race, ethnicity, class, national origin, physical challenge, disability and sexual orientation.
The Women’s Center manages the Molly Hays Glander Rape and Sexual Assault Response Line (919) 618-RAPE (7273). This 24-hour hotline serves as a resource for NC State students. The Advocates offer confidentiality, crisis information support, and provide resources and referrals for survivors of rape and sexual assault. The Women’s Center also provides these services based on staff availability during normal business hours as well as a safe space to hang out between classes. Our lending library has a selection of books that may be helpful for survivors and their supporters during the healing process. Programs such as Take Back the Night help give voice to the violence while also educating the campus.
Given the work the Women’s Center does around preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors, it is critically important that we are involved with the Alliance for Sexual Assault Prevention (ASAP). The Rape Prevention Education Coordinator, a newly created position housed in the Women’s Center, facilitates the ASAP meetings and collaborates with member offices and allies across campus in our efforts to help eradicate interpersonal violence. |
