I'm Concerned about a friend of mine. Can I talk to a Counselor
for advice?
- The Counseling Center provides consultation
for University students, faculty, staff, and parents who are concerned
about the unusual, problematic, or potentially harmful behavior
of others. In person or over
the phone, a staff member will explore your concerns and help
you develop ideas for dealing effectively with the situation. If
the circumstances warrant, we'll also help you with the process
of finding professional help for the person, either at the Counseling
Center or in the community. more

I need to consider a Withdrawal. How can the Counseling Center
help?
- A Semester Withdrawal will withdraw a student
from ALL courses in a current or previous semester.
All withdrawals for degree students are
initiated through the NCSU Counseling Center.
- For
withdrawal requests before the
last day of the official drop period in a given semester,
students may walk in to the Counseling Center during
regular walk-in hours. These are Weekdays from 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. except
Wednesday, when the hours are 11 am to 4 pm.
- A late (current semester after the last day
of the official drop period) or retroactive (prior semester)
withdrawal permits a student to drop all of the courses that
he/she is registered for after the last day to officially drop
in a given semester. This process requires the student to consult
with a counselor in more depth and typically requires the student
to schedule an appointment.

I need to Drop a class past the deadline. How can the Counseling
Center help?
- The Counseling Center is ordinarily
only involved in course drop requests for psychological and/or
medical reasons. The academic colleges usually handle hardship
requests. A counselor can assist in evaluating documentation
you provide from off-campus providers, or can assist you in
obtaining further evaluation from on-campus providers when
necessary. Students should come by the Counseling Center to set
up an appointment. more
