2. DE Presentations

  • Today: Distance Education Presentation #1 - Overview & History of DE (Pressley & Pappenhagen)
    • Discussion afterward focused on how we might re-frame DE for our Division. One idea that received much enthusiastic response is using something like "eServices" terminology that would help units better visualize serving ALL students. This also ties into the notion that the DE population is one that changes constantly, depending on definitions and students lives. By providing everyone excellent eService, then the DE population is also served. To be discussed more in depth at future meetings.
  • “Real” DE Experiences – Interview a DE Faculty Member and a DE Student (March 5: Bell & Cassidy)
  • Current Issues in DE – Look at Professional Orgs & Listservs for Trends, Problems, etc (April 2: Domingue & Kremer)
  • How Your Unit Does/Does Not/Should/Will Address the DE Population (May 7: Marchi & Sobol)
  • Reminder: You can get the Presenter-to-Go and projector in advance from Leslie if you’d like to practice
  • Send final .ppt to Leslie after you present so it can be posted to web for future reference.
