Awards Update
- “Contribution to the Profession”
- DETAG and PGC feedback was shared with Small Staff.
- Lots of discussion about wording, etc, but basic concept very much supported by Small Staff.
- “Technology Initiative”
- Most of DETAG’s suggested changes implemented; most important is encouragement for non-techs.
- DETAG will select a recipient during the May 6 meeting.
3. DETAG Membership
- Chair for 2005-2006: Elizabeth Kremer
- Overall membership goals (this is the ideal, but we’re flexible):
- One representative from each Small Staff Administrator’s area
- Two faculty representatives
- Two technology representatives
- Others who express and interest and enthusiasm for DE and tech issues in our Division
- Cross representation with SAAT (Carrie and Leslie)
- SPA as well as EPA representation
- Current Members
- All are encouraged to return for next year!
- Please email Leslie no later than April 25 to confirm your interest for next year.
- We will more formally review membership each year from this point forward.
- New Members
- We will announce to the entire Division that interested folks should contact us by April 25.
- We will leave the number of new members to be determined depending on response.

- Possible initiatives (the whole group can brainstorm later…just getting everyone thinking for now):
- Complete Technology Plan (after Division Objectives are completed/approved)
- Re-focus on distance education
- Responding to new Web Accessibility Regulation
- Re-commit to the Palm PAL project w/ Small Staff and others
- Division-wide tech training and other programs (“Hiring/Managing Technical Staff”)
- Incorporating assessment in DETAG’s work
- Finding ways to promote Division’s commitment to diversit
- Digital Snapshot of Student Affairs (“day in the life” of the Division; multi-media

- Some small door prizes (all handheld related)

6. Announcements
- Virtual Student Lounge
- UNC-OP music download pilot project
- Allows students in residence halls to register with one of four vendors; unlimited downloads
- Students will have the option of paying for continued service at the end of the semester.
- New DELTA Position
- Assistant Director for DE Assessment and Diversity; Proposed hire date – this spring
- Centralized calendaring/email system for university being studied
- Report on possible models by summer; Implementation may take a year or two beyond that
- RMIS Re-organization
- ACS, NCS, and EIS; New names coming
- Upgrade to Windows XP
- All NCS-Environment machines; Target completion: July 1, 2006
- Cost = $51.64 per license!
