1. Introductions

  • Members Present-Leslie, Elizabeth, Jason, John, Allison, Peggy, Nancy, Lisa Miles, Jimmy
  • December meeting may have to be moved so that we can look at WebCT. Leslie will retract meeting and correct.

2. Subcommittees

  • The large group broke into smaller groups to discuss work. Everyone introduced themselves to Lisa Miles, who joined us for the first time...welcome back!
  • Leslie suggested that the Communications and Promotions group use Lisa Miles as a potential resource, as she served on the PGC and works in housing, where they use a lot of technological resources.
  • Larger group reconvened to discuss what happened in the smaller groups.
  • Communication/Promotion Group: waiting on a date for the PGC event. Will begin promotions once date, time and place are established.
  • Technology Planning Group: Defining the project. Narrowing the scope, developing a project charter, process improvement checklist and criteria for how to do this.
  • Education/Training: several members absent, so no group work today.

3. DETAG operations

  • Elizabeth inquired about how communication has been going. Has there been any feedback from group leaders.
  • Jimmy sent minutes to Art White and he liked the information. Alison received good feedback from Alex. It is unclear how he used the information, who he shared it with, etc.
  • Lisa suggested sending information to her group for entry into the housing newsletter.
  • We have not yet discussed how to get information to small staffs. Leslie suggested that those who have direct contact with higher ups discuss it regularly. She suggested setting up meetings with others to introduce DETAG. She and Elizabeth will be happy to help facilitate meetings should anyone need it.

4. Other Reports

  • PGC - no new information at this time.
  • LANTech/Webmaster group - Leslie is trying to update the list so that she can contact the correct people when the meetings reconvene in the near future. She is awaiting responses from a few people and she will issue a call for a meeting before the end of this semester. Preliminary Agenda: email, Section 508, etc....she noted that DETAG supports the Lantech/Webmaster group. Everyone on DETAG is encouraged to go.
  • Campus Calendar/Email Initiative - Leslie encouraged everyone to look at the email she sent about the email situation. The University will make a decision by the end of this calendar year. Oracle calendar/pick your own email is a potential option. GroupWise will likely be one of these options. With the new system, there WILL be training for everyone. A GOOD POTENTIAL DETAG PROJECT: ENCOURAGING STUDENTS TO USE ONLINE CALENDARING.
  • Web Accessibility - The University is finalizing the regulation. January 06, 2006 is the expected date of implementation. Leslie is preparing an accessibility assessment of each unit's website. Her office will be the main contact for departments needing to make changes and discuss options to bring everything into compliance.
