Division of Student Affairs

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH COMMITTEE

Purpose and Goals

The Professional Growth Committee in the Division of Student Affairs serves as a vehicle for promoting personal and professional development for both EPA and SPA staff. Staff serve as our most valuable resource in making a significant impact on the educational experience of students. By providing orientations, training, and in-service education activities, staff are equipped with necessary skills to perform effectively.

The goals of the Professional Growth Committee are as follows:

  • Orient committee members to the responsibilities of their position
  • Orient staff to the goals of the Division of Student Affairs
  • Provide opportunities which allow for the development of a sense of team at the division level and for the committee
  • Teach skills needed to function successfully as an effective staff member
  • Provide opportunities for exposure to information that contributes to the development of the individual
  • Introduce staff to the philosophical orientation of the division and the theoretical basis for student personnel work
