Information for Viewers

The Webcast is broadcast in RealMedia format from the NC State Realaudio Server. To connect to this live stream, you will need RealPlayer 10 installed on your system. Realplayer is available for PC, Mac, and Unix workstations and is a free download from www.real.com (be sure to select 'RealPlayer Basic').

When a live webcast is online, you may access it by clicking on the 'Watch the Webcast' link on the top of this page, or by clicking here to connect.

Information for Presenters

If you are planning an event or meeting in Talley, you may request that your event be broadcast through the system as part of the Online Reservation Form. Confirmation of a Webcast from Talley will be contingient on both anticipated demand and on necessary special staffing requirements.

The broadcast will be produced by a trained student employee from the Comm Department who will follow your direction on how the event should be presented. In addition to your live Webcast, you will receive a recorded copy afterwards for your own use. An archived version of your Webcast will be made available online for a limited time for replay viewing following the event, hosted by the Information Technology Division and linked from this website.

Webcasting Fees

The cost of the system includes a single charge for the reservation of the system, and an additional per hour cost for labor. The per hour cost is $10, and there is a minimum reservation of 2 hours for the system, which includes 1 hour for setup beforehand and 1/2 hour for breakdown afterward. This means that there must be at least 1 1/2 hours between each Webcast event for preparation time.

  • Student Groups, In-House Clients and the Division of Student Affairs: $15 plus $10 per hour labor charge.
  • Campus Departments: $50 plus $10 per hour labor charge.
  • Outside Groups and Visitors: $125 plus $10 per hour labor charge.

If you have questions about the use of the RealMedia System, please feel free to contact the Reservations and Events Management office at usc_reservations@ncsu.edu or 919-515-2249.
