MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
- Let the appointment coordinator know the nature
and number of problems so that sufficient time will be reserved
for your visit. If the nature of your problem is personal, tell
this to the appointment coordinator.
MAKE THE APPOINTMENT EARLY IN THE DAY, IF
POSSIBLE.
- All services may not be available later in the
day, and waiting time may be longer.
ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME.
- Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to allow
time to check in and be interviewed by the nurse. Every effort
is made to see students at their scheduled time. If there is a
delay in being seen, please let the nurse know your time constraints.
KNOW YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE.
- Have a copy of your insurance card. While many
services at Student Health are available at no charge, obtain
information during the visit about any charges. Know any limitations
on referrals should testing or physician services outside of Student
Health be required.
KNOW HOW TO CONTACT A FAMILY MEMBER SHOULD
YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY.
HAVE A COMPLETED IMMUNIZATION FORM AND MEDICAL
HISTORY FORM ON FILE.
- The Immunization Form is state law in North Carolina.
Forward medical records of any chronic illness or significant
medical illness or injury to Medical Records.
FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH STUDENT HEALTH
SERVICES.
- Know the location and hours of operation. If you
have a medical situation that is symptomatic periodically (i.e.
migraines, asthma, allergies), consider making an appointment
while you are without symptoms to meet a provider, develop a plan,
and know what Student Health offers.
SCHEDULE IN ADVANCE, IF POSSIBLE.
- If it is time for your annual GYN exam, or to refill
a prescription or plan for international travel, do so as early
as possible to ensure your needs can be met.
