Admissions

NC State Degree Students

Whether you are an undergraduate wanting to advance your academic standing at NC State; a graduate student desiring to continue study and research during the summer months; or an adult looking to get ahead in your education or career, Summer Sessions has an opportunity for you.

Currently Enrolled Degree Students

Students enrolled at NC State during current Spring Semester 2010 do not need to apply to Summer Session and are already eligible for registration. Any regular NC State degree candidate may attend the Summer Sessions. Currently enrolled degree students, either graduate or undergraduate, will register for courses via MyPack Portal just like they do any other term.

Degree Students Who Are Not Currently Enrolled

NC State degree candidates who are not currently enrolled will have to complete the readmission process through the Department of Registration and Records at least 30 days prior to the intended date of return. Click here to view readmission .

Suspended Undergraduate Degree Students

NC State degree students suspended at the end of the current Spring Semester may attend one or both sessions of the Summer Sessions to attempt to become eligible to continue in the Fall. Students suspended prior to the current Spring Semester may attend one or both sessions of the Summer Sessions as well and should follow the readmission procedures outlined above for degree students not currently enrolled. Suspended students can register for on-campus and distance education classes using MyPack Portal after meeting with their advisor and having their advising hold removed.

Non-Degree Studies

Through the Non-Degree Studies (NDS) program, individuals in the community can register for NC State University undergraduate and graduate level credit courses without having been formally admitted to a degree program. Credits earned as an NDS student may later be applied to a degree program. Day, evening, on-campus and distance education classes are available to accommodate a variety of needs. Students without an undergraduate degree taking classes through NDS are classified as Undergraduate Studies (UGS) students. Students with an undergraduate degree are classified as Post Baccalaureate Studies (PBS) students. Click on the applicable link below for more information on taking classes as an NDS student at NC State.

Visiting Students

Back in Raleigh for the summer? Visiting students can take Summer Sessions classes at NC State for credit to transfer back to their home school.

Visiting students take classes for credit to transfer back to their home school, to meet professional certification requirements, to take a course for personal enrichment, or for better job opportunities. If you are a visiting student, you should discuss your registration with your adviser or dean at your home institution. They determine transferability of credit back to your degree program. Visiting students can register for Summer Sessions classes through the Non-degree Studies program. Students without an undergraduate degree taking classes through NDS are classified as Undergraduate Studies (UGS) students. Students with an undergraduate degree are classified as Post Baccalaureate Studies (PBS) students.
