The recent NCSU budget shortfall provides an opportunity for fulfilling sustainability goals. All over campus, we have empty computer labs nonetheless running computers, and plasma TVs being left on in empty buildings. Would it be difficult to change this? |

| Fall Litter Sweep, this Saturday |
Hello, this is Heather with the Town of Cary. We have our Fall Litter Sweep this Saturday and we have hundreds signed up to participate. We are still recruiting adult volunteers for the highway segment (along US 1 near Walnut) and I was hoping to plug into some groups on campus that might be interested in lending a hand. It's from 8 to 11:30 this Saturday, followed by a free lunch and a chance to win some cool prizes. Please let me know if you can advertise or if you have any feedback and I can send you the details and the flyer.
Thanks! Heather |

| Going green service projects |
My name is Cadet Berner representing the Arnold Air Society withing Air Force ROTC at NCSU. We are a professional, service oriented group within AFROTC. Every year Arnold Air Society comes up with a Joint National Project (JNP). This year's JNP is "Going Green." We are very excited about this year's JNP and we would like to work closely with the NCSU Office of Sustainability to take part in events around campus and in the community. I am the Director of Operations for the squadron, therefore I am also interested in hearing any ideas that the folks in the Office of Sustainability have for going green projects we could do as a squadron. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Cadet Berner |

| Solar Energy |
Hello,
I was interested in instituting solar energy on our campus. I attended an environmental summit over spring break called Power Shift. There I went to a session on alternate energy sources where there was a speaker on solar energy, I cannot think of his name off the top of my head. But, he worked for a company that implements solar energy on campuses and I signed an e-mail list for more information. I just received an e-mail and the first step is to fill out a survey about your school. I am unsure of some of the answers to the questions and I was wondering if the office of sustainability would be interested in getting involved.
Thank you |

| Urban and rooftop gardens |
I am currently trying to start up a club/committee at the university dedicated to designing and implementing rooftop or ground-based gardens on or around the campus. Initial projects would be permission of the school to use given plots of land and if it would be feasible to put rooftop gardens in action. However, I am looking for some help as to whom I should speak with on getting permission for these projects. Any help would suffice. |
