Campus Culture
From the organizations we join, to activities in which we participate, we are each shaped and influenced by the people and events and around us. NC State is filled with individuals and organizations, new and old, which are dedicated to furthering the cause of sustainability on campus. Opportunity exists for everyone to get directly involved in becoming a leader in building our campus community both around sustainability and other issues. Especially among the on-campus residents, the university has the ability to lead by example and teach residents to live a less consumptive lifestyle and be a responsible community member. Be it low flow shower heads in the residence halls or local produce in the campus dining facilities – students are exposed to environmentally conscious practices. These practices also extend to our faculty and staff that find the university as their second home.
Among the guiding principles of our campus Physical Master Plan are core values, including encouraging environments that stimulate creativity both in and outside the classroom that serve as teaching and learning environments. Facilities are built and maintained to create a unified community that is comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and nurtures a fertile exchange of ideas across academic and administrative disciplines.
