S.E.E. NC State Webinar: GHG Inventory Info Session |
Taped Sept. 16, 2009 |
Roughly 20min. long |
BACKGROUND
In January 2008 the Chancellor signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) moving North Carolina State University towards a plan of climate neutrality. The first step of the ACUPCC commitment is releasing our greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory. Above, you will find a link to the first-ever report of it's kind for the Raleigh, NC campus.
In the 2008 GHG Inventory we have assessed our carbon footprint by looking at greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from buildings, purchased electricity, travel, purchasing, commuting, etc. Shortly, we will begin the task of developing a Climate Action Plan (CAP), thus setting a strategy and implementation plan to reach climate neutrality from our current GHG levels.
We want the CAP process to be transparent and participative and will be inviting campus to help us in creating and implementing this plan. We will be launching the CAP page in coming days.
Below is an estimated schedule of what actions will be taken and when.
