GreenTree Initiative - Nomination Criteria

The criteria for this competition are:

  1. The contest will be open to students, faculty and staff on the main campus as well as those in other locations such as extension offices.
  2. The objective of the competition is to to initiate awareness among the university community and to recognize unique projects which promote sustainability. Projects may be one-time or ongoing.
  3. The participants must be nominated by a staff member, faculty member or student of NC State University. Nominators must complete the GreenTree Initiative nomination form available on the Sustainability website. Nomination forms will also be available at the Sustainability office or may be downloaded [PDF].
  4. The green initiatives will be judged using the following criteria:
    • small scale project
    • easily implemented in the workplace
    • cost-saving or budget-friendly
    • benefits the NC State community
  5. The initial judging panel will be made up of the University Sustainability Office staff, along with members of the Pathway's team that created the project. In future years the 4 winners will be encouraged to “pay it forward” by working with the Sustainability office to judge future GreenTree nominees.
