Inspecting Carol

It’s almost Christmas time, and what says Christmas like the classic story of Scrooge and Tiny Tim? Join the talented cast of NC State’s University Theatre for Inspecting Carol, by Daniel J. Sullivan and the Seattle Repertory Theatre, where anything that can go wrong does as a bankrupt theatre company stages their annual production of the Dickens holiday event.

 

In Sullivan’s hilarious comedy spoof, a financially-strapped theatre company finds out they may not receive their annual endowment and the NEA is sending an inspector to check them out. In their attempt to impress this mysterious government inspector, the company makes a few “small” changes to the original story, and the wacky founding partners work together with even-crazier community actors in what might possibly be their last performance ever. A laugh riot, with physical slapstick, dizzying laughs, ingenious jokes and hysterical characters.

 

Theatre Director John C. McIlwee directs and the student cast welcomes guest artists Allison Bergman, assistant director of University Theatre in her first role on Thompson Hall’s stages, and local favorite Danny Norris, last featured in our TheatreFest productions. If you want to see a well thought out portrayal of the classic Christmas play A Christmas Carol, then this play is NOT for you!
