Christopher Akpobiyeri, Reporter #1, Dr. White, Sgt. Gortland, is a senior majoring in industrial engineering with minors in statistics and arts applications. Chris’ campus affiliations include member of African Student Union, Peer Mentors, Black Repertory Theatre, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Previous show credits include Bourbon at the Border, Do Lord Remember Me, and A Few Good Men.
Daniel Balogun, Reporter #3, Dr. Bowman, Bailiff, is a junior majoring in industrial engineering. Daniel has participated in multiple University Theatre productions including a member of the company in Sweet Charity, “Chancellor” in The Madrigal Dinner, and “Daniel” in Godspell. Daniel was house manager for Dearly Departed, A Few Good Men and Christmas Belles.
Steven Deutsch, Robert Crowe, is a graduate student in applied mathematics and will earn his Master’s degree in May. Previous roles at N.C. State include “Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd” in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, “Judas” in Godspell and “Lt.jg Sam Weinberg” in A Few Good Men. “Thanks to everyone involved with University Theatre and APO for all their hard work!”
Russell Gentry, Nathan “Babe” Leopold, is a junior majoring in history and archeology. Tis is Russell’s seventh production with University Theatre; previous credits include “Raynerd” in Christmas Belles, “Simon” in The Real Inspector Hound, and “Clyde” in Dearly Departed. He would like to thank Terri, the cast and crew, and the UT staff for another great season.
George M. Kaiser, Richard “Dickie” Loeb, is a junior majoring in arts applications–theatre. During this time, George has gone from Hamlet to Texas Aggie, news editor to British critic, pastor to unemployed sewer worker, and marine to murderer. He gives a standing “O” to the tech crew, kudos to Russell Gentry for being his “partner in crime,” and a special thanks to Terri Janney.
Jim Sullivan, Clarence Darrow, is a graduate of NC State University and currently a member of Burning Coal Theatre’s company of actors. Recent performances include BCT’s Twelfth Night; Meredith’s Gypsy; JTP’s The Grapes of Wrath; RLT’s Moon Over Buffalo; and University Theatre’s Not About Nightingales. Many thanks to my wife, Mary Ann, who always encourages me to follow my dreams–a big THANK YOU, Terri!
Jillian Varner, Reporter #2, Germaine, Dr. Hulbert, is a freshman majoring in chemistry. Jillian is excited to be in her third production with University Theatre. Previous roles include “Jewel” in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and “Frankie” in Christmas Belles. “Thanks to my family and to the cast and crew!”
Production Bios
Terri L. Janney, Guest Director, is the former Senior Associate Director of University Theatre who retired in July 2008. In her 32-year career at NC State, she directed more than 50 productions including favorites Mousetrap, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Not About Nightingales, and StopKiss, which was an ACTF regional finalist. Since her retirement, she has played lots of golf, recorded her first hole-in-one, traveled to Puerto Rico, and spent some wonderful days at Stone Mountain Golf Course in NC. The Stone Mountain trip was a fantastic gift from her students and colleagues. She will direct Top Girls for Meredith theatre in April. Her future plans include traveling to Alaska and St. Croix to visit former students.
Charlotte R. Stalls, Stage Manager, is a junior majoring in business administration/marketing. This is her seventh show with University Theatre. Charli would like to thank her family, especially her parents, for all of their support.
Kira Lopez, Assistant Stage Manager, is a sophomore majoring in zoology. Previous acting credits include A Few Good Men, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Technical credits include Godspell.
