Summer START

Needed: Tutors for ENG 100 (Introduction to Academic Writing) and SOC 202 (Principles of Sociology) for Summer START program to assist transition program students and student athletes with:

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Small Group Discussion
  • Writing
  • Study and Organizational Skills
  • Interpreting Instructor's Feedback
  • Citing sources appropriately

When: Second Summer Session 2013 (July 1 – August 2), 20-25 hours/week (primarily M-F afternoons; some evenings and Sunday afternoon hours may be required). Required orientation is June 27 –  28, 10 am – 5 pm.

Who should apply: Any student currently enrolled in classes at NC State, with excellent writing and speaking skills, and GPA of at least 3.0. Preference will be given to those with high academic marks in writing and/or sociology courses at the college level, as well as to those with teaching and/or tutoring experience. Applicant must be available to work every weekday afternoon during Second Summer Session 2013 (July 1 – August 2, excluding July 4).

Pay Range: $10-15/hr including contact and preparation hours (hourly rate commensurate with degree status and teaching/tutoring experience)
